Happy Halloween!

This may sound crazy, but today was one of my favorite holidays with Asher so far. I guess she is at a great Trick-or-Treating age. She was so excited all day. As a matter of fact, the little stinker got up at 5:15am!!! Jacob told me to tell her to go back to bed and don't get up again until the sun comes up. hehe :)
We took it easy most of the morning. Asher insisted on having "noodle soup" (chicken noodle soup) for lunch. I told her she had to eat really well to get to eat her candy. Wouldn't you know it, with a little motivation, she ate the whole bowl. She told me it made her tummy all healthy so she could eat lots of candy!

This afternoon we went to Asher's friend, Bailey's Halloween Party. Asher was real shy at first. She was attached to my leg, but after about 15 minutes, she was running around playing games. She actually spent the first 1/2 of the party at the art station. She loved glueing all the pumpkin faces, coloring and putting stickers on everything. Then she realized if she won a game, she got a prize (candy). She played the ring toss game a hundred times. She won three bags of candy and 3 2-liter sodas (which I realized Asher was about the only kid there not drinking sodas...some parents start thier kids early on that).

All the kids at the party brought a bag of candy. They put it in these big buckets and several of the parents went around in different areas of the backyard. So the kids ran around to the different "candy stations" to Trick-or-Treat. It was a really cute idea and Asher had a blast.

After the party we came home and spent some time with Jacob. Asher was so excited to tell Daddy all the fun things she had done and show him all of her candy. After he left for work, I touched up Asher's make-up and we got her back in her costume and we went Trick-or-Treating at two of our neighbors houses. Asher was a pro! She walked right up, said loud and clearly "Trick-or-Treat!!!". After they all told her how cute she was and how big she was getting, she said, "Thank You!" and walked off. It was so cute!!!

She kept looking at herself in the mirror saying, "I'm so cute!"

2nd house
A tracker pulling a trailor full of hay and Trick-or-Treaters was driving down the street and stopped right in front of our house. They all took off. Asher just stood on our driveway watching all these kids run around our neighborhood. She looked at me and with a sad little voice goes, "can I please go on a hayride". It broke my heart to say no. I explained to her that we didn't know those people and we could watch, but could not ride. She understood. She just stood there and watched until they drove away. I felt so bad. She was soon reminded of how much candy she had and was happy again!

Asher watching the hayriders!

Look at that face...it was so hard to say no to!

Doing better!

We normally come home after Trick-or-Treating and Asher helps me hand out candy. This year, we decided not to. I don't think Asher gave it a second thought, but I felt bad because she enjoyed it so much last year. I just didn't want to pay all that money for candy (last year we had TONS of kids), Asher needed to get to bed early after a big day and we have to get up early for Church tomorrow morning.

All in all, it was a great day. I love having days like that with Asher. It makes me so excited to have Adleigh to get to join in these great Mommy/Daughter Days!!!

Funny Asher Story from this week: Jacob was putting Asher to bed one night this week. I was tired, so I was laying down on the couch. I could hear the usually bedtime conversations, drink? bathroom? book? etc? Then Asher laid down. Jacob covered her up with her sheet and then her blanket. Then I heard Asher yell, "Just the Shit, Daddy...Just the Shit!" I immediately got up. Did she say what I think she just said? Jacob came out of Asher's room laughing so hard, he was almost crying and wheezing. She was trying to tell her Daddy that she did not want her blanket, only the SHEET!!!
